Bald Eagles are quite common throughout PEI. Although Bald Eagles are year round Islanders, the Bald Eagle TreePOD is open from April to October. They make their homes in forested areas close to large bodies of water. They also enjoy their privacy, so they tend to live in areas that are not developed by humans.
Bald Eagles are the largest bird of prey on Prince Edward Island. The Bald Eagle TreePOD is one of two of the largest TreePODS offered at Treetop Haven. It is a 700 square foot TreePOD (geodesic dome) that perches 9 feet up in the trees sitting on a large deck that surrounds the entire dome. This TreePOD is beautifully decorated with colors, accents, and special touches that are inspired by the Bald Eagle.
The Bald Eagle TreePOD has a fully equipped kitchen that includes a fridge, a free standing stove, and of course a coffee maker. It also contains all of the dishes, cutlery, glasses, pots, and pans that you will need. This TreePOD has a beautiful 4 piece bathroom complete with a tub/shower, two relaxing bedrooms with a queen size bed in each, and a living space containing a small sectional couch that turns into a double bed. There is a large bay window that wraps around the kitchen and living room to allow the enchanting woods to feel as though it is in the TreePOD with you, without having to leave the comfort of the couch.
Bald Eagle’s diet consists mainly of fish. But if the fish are scarce, they will eat rabbits, squirrels, and other birds. It is believed that Bald Eagles mate for life. They perform a special dating dance in the air to impress each other, which involves locking their talons and cartwheeling through the air.
When Bald Eagles are born, they are light grey and fluffy. By the time young eagles leave the nest at around 12 weeks old, they have changed to a dark brown. They mature into their signature white head and tail when they are four years old, so you may get the opportunity to see some young eaglets while on Prince Edward Island.
The Bald Eagle TreePOD has a large wrap around deck which enlarges the living space, while bringing the outdoors in. The outside area features your own private hot tub. Imagine relaxing in the tub after a wonderful day of hiking and exploring beautiful PEI. The large outside area also has a barbecue and seating area, great for eating outside, while embracing nature.
The Bald Eagle TreePOD is open from May to October. Pets and smoking are not allowed.
